By boat to Vlieland
Vlieland can only be reached by boat. The ferry service departs from Harlingen Haven to Vlieland. The crossing takes about 1.5 hours, depending on weather conditions. It is advisable to reserve a spot online in advance, especially in high season.
Please note, Vlieland is a car-free island. That means you cannot bring your car to the island. On the island, you can continue your journey on foot, by bike or by bus. Once you arrive on Vlieland, bike rental companies are ready to provide you with a bike.
By car to Harlingen Haven
Harlingen Haven is easy to reach by car. Because Vlieland is a car-free island, you are not allowed to bring your car to the island. Therefore, there is plenty of parking available at the harbor where you can park for a fee. From the parking lot you can walk to the ferry terminal in a few minutes.
By public transportation to Harlingen Haven
Do you prefer to travel by public transportation? Then it's best to take the train to Harlingen Haven. From the train station you can walk to the ferry terminal in about 10 minutes. Buses also run regularly from the train station to the ferry terminal. Consult the timetables in advance to properly plan your trip.
